The Appalachian Mountains were the sight of the first American Gold Rush. Today, tourism in this region is Georgia's most important industry. The southern end of these mountains are in Georgia's Blue Ridge region. Their elevation of the mountains are 6,683 inches(2307 m). They cover 737,000 square miles of land. The Appalachian Mountains highest point is known as Mount Mitchell.
