James Oglethorpe was born on December 26, 1996 in London, England. He was known as the 'Father of Georgia' because he was the one who established the colony of Georgia. Before he discovered Georgia, he was a social reformer, a visionary, and a military leader. James wouldn't give up and tried to persuade the British government about making Georgia a colony. Finally, after all of Oglethorpe's hard work, on February 12, 1733 the colony was made. Today, Georgia is known as the 13th colony all because of the 'Father of Georgia,' James Oglethorpe.
